How do we choose a wedding venue in Metro Detroit?
Start with capacity and budget, then judge the things photos hide: where guests park, how far the bar sits from the dance floor, what the room sounds like full, and how strict the end time is. Metro Detroit’s range is genuinely wide — historic Detroit theaters, Ann Arbor country clubs, Oakland County conservatories, open-field barns — so tour at least one venue from a style you think you don’t want. Couples change their minds in the room constantly.
What should we ask a venue about music and entertainment?
Five questions save the most headaches: What time can vendors load in? Are there sound limits or a decibel policy? Where are the power outlets relative to the dance floor? What’s the hard end time? And are effects like fog or cold sparks allowed? If you’d rather not play interrogator, hand us the coordinator’s email — asking these is literally our job.
Can you work a venue that isn't on this list?
Absolutely — this page is a sampling, not a boundary. For a room we haven’t worked, we do our homework before your date: we coordinate with the venue on load-in, power, and house rules, and arrive early enough to fill out a fresh Room Sheet. By your first dance, it’s a room we know.
Do Michigan venues have sound restrictions?
Some do — especially outdoor venues near neighbors and historic rooms with older infrastructure. Limits usually mean a decibel cap or an earlier cutoff for amplified music, not silence. When your venue has one, we design the night around it: speaker placement that keeps the floor loud and the property line quiet, and a timeline that lands your biggest moments inside the window.
Should we book the venue or the entertainment first?
Venue first — the date doesn’t exist until the room is signed. Entertainment should come right behind it, because popular dates claim DJs, photographers, and videographers almost as fast as they claim ballrooms. The nice part of booking Bash second: tell us the venue and there’s a good chance our Room Sheet for it is already filled out.
Will you tell us honestly what a venue is like?
Yes — bluntly, kindly, and off the record. We have no stake in where you get married; we just work there. If a room’s acoustics fight the party, we’ll say so and tell you how we’d solve it.
